Moonshadow is the #1 Most Added Song in AC Radio This Week!
|
9.7.2006
|
|
We're excited to announce that Moonshadow, the first radio single from Forward Motion,
is the Most Added Song to AC radio stations' playlists this week across the US! This
info is tracked by FMQB.com who
keeps track of small market national radio airplay in the US. In promotions, a market
is another word for city. So, what we're talking about here is national radio airplay
coast to coast in the US not including the big major cities. D/C will have to tackle
the big cities at another time. For now, this is great news!

Africa Calls
|
8.31.2006
|
|
During the month of August 2006, Lynn made one of her life-long travel dreams come true
by taking a trip to Africa! She visited Kenya and Tanzania. She mentions that seeing
the local wildlife was unbelievable. "I thought we'd have to be taken by guide out into
the wilderness to where the animals would be. But, they were all around us - all the time!
You could be sipping a drink at the place we were staying, look out from the deck over the
area and see a variety of animals within a few hundred yards. We had to be escorted by warriors
of a local tribe for our protection when we did go out and about. And of course, we did drive
out to places where we could see the more hard to find animals like rhinos. It was an amazing trip.
It's also a sobering one as you see the conditions that some people are living in over there.
It's a life-changing perspective giving experience."

DHW Records Signs With RED Distribution!
|
4.25.2006
|
|
D/C's record label DHW Records has signed a national distribution contract with
RED Distribution who's parent company is SonyBMG! "We are so excited about
making this connection!," says Lynn, "it's been a while in the works and we
wanted to make sure we understood the pros and cons of the whole process." Cole
continues, "We're really proud to be establishing all the pieces of the puzzle.
Our first official release is Forward Motion but Lynn and I have done music in
the past and will in the future. So, this is a beginning." Adds Lynn, "We're
very proud of what we've done with Forward Motion. We've seen at our gigs that
this acoustic style of ours really reaches some people very deeply. We know that
there are a lot of people out there who will appreciate this album. And, this is
not all that we do. I've got an R&B/Jazz/Rock background and Cole is getting
more and more into Electronic music and blending it with his Rock and Classical
background. So, we'll be happily looking to future releases as well." Adds Cole,
"Forward Motion has allowed us to connect with the people that have made this
situation possible. But, we're looking to the future as well."

London Calling... 3.28 - 4.15
|
3.28.2006
|
|
Cole is off to London from March 28th through April 15th. While there he'll be
dropping in to see performances by some of his favorite London based artists:
Imogen Heap, Emma-Jane Thommen, Claire Toomey, The Storys, Temposhark. Says
Cole, "I've needed to take this trip for a long time. To get back in touch with
a bit of my ancestry, to spend time surrounded by the sites and sounds of the
places that some of my favorite artists have come from. Sometimes, a trip like
this can really give you a newly focused perspective on what it is you are doing
and saying with your art - and as a person."

Long Live DHW Records!
|
3.24.2006
|
|
Having established avenues of promotion and distribution, and hearing endless
stories of sadness from peers about record company deals, Lynn and Cole have
formed their own record label - DHW Records. Says Lynn, "Literally, no one we've
ever known has been pleased with a major label record contract. The most often
scenario we've heard and witnessed with people we know is that they ultimately
aren't pleased with their recordings and the companies either never release the
CD's or the project gets a momentary push and then dropped. So, with promotion
and distribution in place -- why not release our music ourselves!?" Cole adds,
"There are pros and cons to either scenario; seek larger label support or form
your own label. But, by doing it ourselves through our own label we might get
the best of both worlds. We have the business relationships now to get a product
out to the public on our own and we can still license our music should a larger
offer come our way." The name DHW Records is taken from a business name Cole had
some time ago called Diamond Hard Worldwide. "It was the name of my online
record store," explains Cole, "I wanted to make available to the public the
music of artists that I would hand-pick from the scene in Los Angeles. The idea
was that the music I'd choose was so good; so beyond reproach -- that it was...
solid... solid as a diamond. You could also think of it as picking the best of
LA - picking the diamonds. But, Diamond Hard Worldwide Records is a bit long
so... DHW Records. The company's logo is a diamond shaped world placed over the
"O" of the word "records" - which reminds me of the old diamond stylus of
turntables. So, the whole idea seemed right for a record company. It was a
thrill to incorporate and thereby making the name legitimate. Long live DHW
Records!"

Meeting With RED Representative
|
3.21.2006
|
|
Lynn and Cole are meeting face to face today with a representative from RED
Distribution to talk over their pending contract. They will also be discussing
the distribution process in general, and what promotions should be done in
conjunction with their contract - should they sign. Says Cole, "RED is located
in New York so it's extra good that a rep is meeting with us here in Los
Angeles. I like meeting people face to face when it's such an impact-full
decision -- and when it's possible."

D/C has signed a non-exclusive contract with Film/TV agent Gael MacGregor of MSI
in Los Angeles. MSI is a new agency scheduled to launch over the Summer of 2006.
Once launched, Gael will be keeping a lookout for opportunities seeing if she

A New Year - A New Deal
|
1.1.2006
|
|
As the new year begins, Lynn and Cole are deep into discussions about their
pending distribution deal with RED Distribution. The matter at hand is
understanding the fine points and nuances, which are many; says Cole, "We want
to make sure we're going into this deal with our eyes fully-open. The bottom
line for us is to make sure that RED will enable us to get the product out to key physical
locations, online stores, and digital download sites. It seems like it should be
pretty straight ahead -- but it's actually quite a complex process."
